Coaches Notes

Hey Team,

Here are your Intramural Team Captains 3 & 4. They're men. They're cool. They're fit & They're taken. Sorry gals.

Ps. The Open is coming up quick. We are going to do the draft next Wednesday night. If you're not registered by then, one of these four captains are coming for you. They're going to bride, coerce, strong arm and probably charm you into joining their team. Save yourself the attention and get signed up!

How many times have you done the Open? What motivated you to do it in the first place?
This will be my third time participating in the open... What got me started harkens back to my Crossfit Currie Barracks days... I had been doing CrossFit for two maybe three months when the open rolled around that year and I went to watch the first Friday night lights throwdown - the energy was awesome - although watching people workout while drinking a beer was a little odd to me at this point in my CrossFit adventure (I recognize this is totally the norm now). As I was leaving Chris Artibello asked me if I had signed up; I hadn't - he called me a pussy fully aware that he wasn't signed up either (takes one to know one I guess?!?!) anyway I went home ate some chocolate covered bacon watched the live announcement from earlier that day, got nervous excited and signed up!

How long have you been doing CrossFit?
2.5ish years

What movements ‘scare’ you?
deadlifts...f'ckin hate deadlifts

What’s your favourite CrossFit moment so far?
Getting fourth in the battle was pretty cool, also getting not last in the Western Classic was fun too.... but probably it's anytime we warm up with handball!

How many times have you done the Open? What motivated you to do it in the first place:
My first Open was in 2013 and I had only been doing CrossFit for 2 months. I was peer pressured into it (in a good way) and haven't looked back since. Now I love being able to look back and compare my fitness to where I was 1, 2 or 3 years ago. That's the great thing about the Open. They always repeat at least 1 workout from a previous Open so you can see your improvement.

How long have you been doing CrossFit?
3.5 years

What movements ‘scare’ you?
Gymnastic stuff. Things like handstand pushups, muscle ups, etc. That stuff gets me worked up on a normal WOD let alone when Castro decides it's a great idea to put it in the Open!

What’s your favourite CrossFit moment so far?
Finally learning butterfly pullups! That and meeting all the great people at CFS and CFCB over the past few years.
